Lighting Design
Creative vision, technical precision: lighting that serves the story, the space and the audience.
Great lighting design is invisible until it takes your breath away. Our designers work with your creative team to develop a concept that serves the story, the space and the audience, not the gear list.
From the first concept meeting to final focus, we own every stage of the design: lighting plots, fixture selection, colour palettes, programming and show operation. You sign off on drawings before a single fixture is hung.
How a design comes together
A repeatable process, run by people who also operate the desk.
We start with the intent.
A working session with the director, designer or producer. What should the audience feel, and when? That intent, not a fixture catalogue, drives every decision after it.
The plot and the paperwork.
Lighting plot, fixture schedule, patch, colour and gobo calls, power and data plan. Drawings the venue’s crew can hang from and the producer can sign off.
On-site programming and focus.
We programme the console, focus the rig and refine looks through tech rehearsals, adjusting in the room, with the performance in front of us.
Through opening and beyond.
We operate the season, the festival run or the one-night event, or hand a documented show file to your team if you’re running it in-house.

Frequently asked
- 01 Can you design without operating the show?
- Yes. We can deliver a documented design and show file for your in-house crew to run, or stay on through the season and operate it ourselves. Most clients take the second option.
- 02 Do you work to an existing fixture inventory?
- Either way. We can design to the gear a venue already owns, design to our rental stock, or spec a hybrid. The design leads; the kit list follows.
- 03 How early should the designer be involved?
- As early as possible, ideally while the production is still being shaped. Lighting designed in from the start always reads better than lighting added at the end.
- 04 Do you provide previsualisation?
- For complex shows, yes. We can previs key looks and transitions so the director sees the design before tech, not during it.

Tell us about the production (the venue, the dates, what the audience should feel) and we’ll talk through the design.
